Built by someone who ran the books himself
Ledgerowl started as a personal workaround and turned into the tool we wish had existed years earlier.
Two years of spreadsheets, one decision to stop
Rey Kamal managed the books for a small family cafe in Depok for about two years. Every week, the same ritual: export bank statements, paste into a master sheet, manually tag each row, sum the categories, hope nothing was missed. At the end of each quarter, his accountant would find four or five entries tagged incorrectly, and they would need to reconstruct the paper trail together.
The problem was not that Rey was disorganized. The problem was that Indonesian SMB bookkeeping involves a specific set of categories, a specific set of tax obligations (PPh, PPN, withheld taxes on services), and a calendar that does not forgive late filings. Generic finance tools did not know any of this.
In 2023, Rey started building a solution. He brought in Rizky Santoso, who had spent several years designing financial data pipelines and payment infrastructure for consumer fintech in Jakarta. The combination was straightforward: someone who knew the day-to-day pain of running an Indonesian small business, and someone who knew how to automate data classification at scale. Nadia Putri joined to lead product, bringing experience designing financial tools that small business owners could navigate on a phone rather than a desktop.
Ledgerowl launched in early access with a small group of Jakarta-area SMBs in late 2024. The core offer was simple: give us your bank statements and receipts, and we will categorize every entry, track your tax exposures, and draft your PPh returns. You confirm and submit. We do the preparation work; you keep the accountability.
Three people, one shared frustration
A small team with direct experience in Indonesian small business, fintech infrastructure, and product design.
Managed a family cafe's books in Depok by hand for two years. That experience shaped every decision in the product: the categories, the filing flow, the emphasis on the owner staying in control of submission.
Spent years building financial data pipelines for consumer fintech in Jakarta. Designed the classification engine and bank sync infrastructure that lets Ledgerowl categorize transactions with Indonesian tax context built in from the start.
Product design and UX background across consumer fintech and small-business tools in Indonesia. Ensures that every flow in Ledgerowl works for a business owner on a phone, not just a finance professional on a desktop.
Three principles we do not compromise on
Owner stays accountable
Ledgerowl prepares; you submit. We draft your PPh filing but you review and sign off before anything goes to the tax office. We handle the preparation work because that is what takes hours. The submission stays with you because that is where accountability belongs.
Built for Indonesia, not adapted
PPh categories, PPN tracking, Rupiah amounts, and local bank connectivity are in the core, not added later. We did not take a generic accounting tool and localize it. We started from what an Indonesian SMB actually needs and built from there.
Your data is yours
Transaction data and financial records belong to your business. You can export everything at any time as CSV or PDF. If you leave, your data leaves with you. We do not use client financial data to train external models or share it with third parties.
